Here is what I have been working on this week, working in my studio under my light on my easel this one was turning out fine, but in normal lighting this seems a bit on the dark side, I have shown this to a few people and they all seem to think it is ok, it was my plan as the light for my setup was behind the blue bottle and glass pointing at the vase in the back to cast some light through the glass to cast some blue highlights in the foreground. To ease my soul I really pumped up the light on the vase to draw even more attention to it. What do you think? No title yet as I am not sure it's done.

Smoldering apple

Smoldering apple Oil on 16" x 12" wrapped canvas $400

It has been a few months since I have painted an apple, I know right what is wrong with me. One day I will get it right but I am getting closer. I seem to be turning a corner and things are starting to look up again so I had a little fun with this, during this painting I kept reminding myself to use more paint, I also had to remind myself not to get to tight so I do have some issues with the drawing but overall I find it works for me. I may update the photo in a week or so as I just can't seem to get a good shot of it so I apologize, once it dries out a bit more I will try again.

Relic: Oil on 18" x 24" wrapped canvas $550

For those that watched this in development, you know that I have been a in a slump and the only way I know to get past it is to just work through it, I started this with so much self doubt and indecisiveness that I didn't think I would get anywhere, A painter friend of mine gave me some words of encouragement and told me that it's means that you are about to move up a level, still unclear if that is the case but near the end of this painting I was really starting to get into a groove and started enjoying the process so perhaps she was right, as always. Any thoughts? Oh and the title "Relic" refers to the incandescent light bulb that I can no longer buy here in Canada, which is too bad as I use them for my studio lights.
