Focused Morning by Dave Froude

Title: Focused Morning
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 Wood Panel

Meet Misty a little focused on something moving of in the distance, Misty was my Wife and I's first Cat early in our relationship. Spent a year at the Humane Society before we saw her and brought her home, she was 10 when we met and lived to the age of 20. She was a bit off though but still we loved her. She always seemed a bit angry and at least for me. The likeness is really good, for a first attempt at a portrait. My first attempt she looked a bit to angry so I softened the eyes a bit and also but a little emphasis on the eyes.

Currently this painting is not for sale, at least for the time being. So if you really like this let me know as I may be willing to let someone else enjoy this painting.

Enjoy

Misty, Work in progress

How is everyone doing on this fine day, I normally don't post works in progress but I am posting this one, for 2 reasons really, the first is I have been working around the house for the last few days and still have quite a bit to get done so I am not sure when I will get a chance to get back to this. The 2nd is I really like this and actually thought I would leave it here as it has a nice quality to it. This portrait is of Misty, my wife and I's first adopted family member, she was 10 when we picked her up from the humane society and lived with us for 10 years, it was a sad day when we lost her a while back, anyway wanted to do this painting for quite some time and now it feels like it's the right time.

Enjoy and hopefully I can back to this soon.

Peaches by Dave Froude

Title: Peaches
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 wood panel

You my have noticed I have been posting a little more often of late, still not at a daily rate but picking up steam, but still taking my time and not rushing things and really focusing on composition and values. Looking back at my paintings over the past 6 months I have noticed my objects are getting more and more simplified, not sure how I feel about this yet, have to think about, maybe something I need to consider going forward. saying that I have had a lot of positive feedback lately which is always great to hear so I won't freak out just yet. Any thoughts?

With this painting I really used very saturated colors for the peaches, just felt right at the time, really pops but time will tell I suppose. I have always been a fan of anything made of copper or brass so when this old large brass water jug crossed my path I had to snag it, sorry pops I will bring it back someday (maybe).

Large Hay bale

Title Large Hay Bale
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 Wood panel

On one of our walks a few weeks back my wife and I stumbled across this large hay bale. as you can see she wasn't that interested in it but I was drawn to the warm colors and the shadows from the surrounding trees in the foreground, reminded me of my favorite breakfast, shredded wheat, wish I had a bowl of milk at the time . I have finally included my lovely wife in one of my paintings, although small at least now I can gladly say I have.

Hey, get out the way apple!

Title: Hey, get out the way apple!
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 wood panel
First off let me let me apologize for the quality of this photo, you may not notice but the colors just are not being captured as I would like, had a hard time getting anything half decent today, I guess some days are just like that. This painting was another value and composition study and it is starting to sink in a little, never said I was a quick study. I had actually set this one a long time ago and did a painting from it but while setting it up back then I snapped a photo at this angle but put it aside but kept referring back to it every so often so I thought there must be a reason. Till next time.
