St John's Wort flower painting by Dave Froude

Title: St John's Wort
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas panel

I wasn't really paying attention to how long it was since my last post, Been busy with lots of gardening on the property anyway I did manage to do a little bit of painting everyday, here is the latest and greatest. Not feeling well today so I will keep it short. I don't often paint flowers but I do enjoy working on them, look for more in the next month or so when the garden starts to come in.

Enjoy

Admin Day

Sorry no new painting today, nothing on the easel at the moment, perhaps I will be able to start something new a little later today, I have been busy setting a few things on my blog, I going to starting a newsletter in the next week or 2 depending on time, I have also added a subscribe to my blog feature, I think it works. I have also set up a online store with My ArtFire today, looks like this service will fit my needs at least for the time being.

Until next time enjoy your day.

Limestone pillars by Dave Froude

Title: Limestone pillars
Medium: Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas panel

Lat weekend My wife and I went to Mount Nemo, which is part of the Niagara escapement, while walking through the various paths we came across this scene a cavern among 2 huge limestone pillars , the rocks were covered with so much moss and the sun light was just hitting a tiny part of the bottom of the cavern, took quite a few photos as it was quite an awesome site. Hopefully I managed to convey this through this painting, but it is my first attempt at subject matter like this. Midway through this I have decided this needs to be a lot larger so look for a much larger piece at a later date.

Enjoy

Apple and Vase 2 by Dave Froude

Title: Vase and Apple 2
Medium: Oil on 10 x 12 Canvas panel

Well my work continues but a much slower pace, I have been painting everyday but taking my time for the time being, not being focused on output but rather quality, so thanks for your patience.
You may notice this looks a lot like my previous painting and it does but I made a few changes, I was trying to pay attention to warm and cool temperatures as well as composition and value changes, not sure if I was completely successful yet so I hope someone well chime in with their thoughts. Sorry for the shadow at the bottom of the painting, if I get some time I will take another photo.

On to the next.
Enjoy
